Click here to watch the full video interview: https://lnkd.in/dm-TeJZ3 During the podcast, Belkhodja responded to questions on the need to shift the marketing budget from fixed cost – in terms of production or creativity – into a consumer-facing budget such as media buying. “There is a notion of future, near-market and in-market audiences,” Belkhodja explained. “You rarely have the possibility to produce enough content in order to hit the message home on a future audience – an audience likely to buy in 12 months; a near-market audience – likely to buy within six months; and an in-market audience that is now – within the next 30-45 days at a level where you’re able to create awareness, consideration and conversion. In order to have that capability, you need to have a huge marketing budget in terms of media and in terms of production.” He added, “AI solves the production part, so you can create a lot more assets, a lot faster, at lower cost, so you can reallocate all that money into the media part. So, the conversation that we need to have with the CFO in order to hit concrete business objectives is very straightforward.” P.S. In the professional world storytelling forges connections, evokes emotions, and builds lasting relationships – especially in the PR landscape. One of the most compelling aspects of storytelling is its ability to humanise brands. By weaving narratives that resonate with the audience’s values and experiences, brands can create a sense of relatability and trust. Campaigns highlighting personal stories of resilience or community support can deeply connect with the UAE’s diverse population, encouraging a sense of unity and shared purpose. That said, understanding the cultural nuances of the Middle East is crucial in crafting these narratives. The UAE is a melting pot of cultures, and each community brings its own unique perspectives and traditions. By incorporating these elements into our stories, we not only show respect for our audience’s heritage but also create more impactful and memorable campaigns. According to a report by Campaign Middle East, emphasising themes of family, community, and tradition can resonate strongly with local audiences as these values are deeply ingrained in the regional culture. But storytelling in PR is not just about telling a tale, it’s about creating an experience. Relatable storylines and emotional appeal are key components that make a narrative compelling. Let's go back to the power of storytelling in PR. When audiences feel a personal connection to a brand’s story, they are more likely to become loyal customers and advocates. This is particularly important in the UAE, where word of mouth and community recommendations play a significant role in consumer behaviour. PR is all about building brand loyalty and advocacy while creating a strong reputation in the public eye. Through storytelling, brands can connect with clients on a deeper level and make them feel seen instead of sold to. Once this connection happens, trust will naturally follow. I strongly believe storytelling needs to be in the toolbox of Middle Eastern PR companies, regardless of the industries they cater to. From creating meaningful connections to representing cultural diversity, it has proven to be an effective (and even fun) way to engage audiences on a deeper level.

I was scrolling through Linkedin yesterday and saw that Khaleej Times was mentioned – but not in a positive way.   We messed up and we were being called out for it.   I’m not bothered for being called out; in fact, I’m grateful. We got something wrong and we 100% should be called out for it.   We have corrected our mistake and included an Editor’s note at the top of the article.   [Editor's note: An earlier version of this report erroneously stated that 67 per cent of UAE residents aged between 36 and 60 are pre-diabetic.
